Saleh Alavizadeh is an Iranian writer and director working across feature and short-form cinema. Drawing on his background in dramatic literature and more than a decade of storytelling experience, his filmmaking is rooted in character-driven narratives and an exploration of complex human and social realities.
Working primarily within independent cinema, his practice spans both screenwriting and directing, with his films reaching international audiences through festivals and screenings.

RAINBOW’S TALE

Rainbow’s Tale is an episodic fiction feature film structured in seven episodes, each representing one of the seven colors of the rainbow. The visual identity of each episode is shaped by its corresponding color, giving every chapter its own distinct atmosphere and visual language.

At its core, Rainbow’s Tale explores violence against children. Across seven different stories, the film approaches this subject from different perspectives and circumstances, moving through different social classes and environments, with each story leading to a different outcome.

The film is dedicated to Kian Pirfalak, a nine-year-old boy who was killed by gunfire during Iran’s Woman, Life, Freedom movement. After his death, videos of Kian were widely shared, many of them beginning with the same words: “In the name of the God of the Rainbow.”
These words became the inspiration for the film’s title, Rainbow’s Tale.

Rainbow’s Tale was made underground in Iran, without official permits or authorization from the Iranian government. The film was produced independently, outside the country’s official filmmaking system.
